Jack Brooks extends his stay at Somerset County Cricket Club

The experienced pacer Jack Brooks has agreed to sign a one-year extension on his contract with Somerset County Cricket Club.

Brooks' contract was due to expire at the end of the 2022 season, but he is set to continue playing for Somerset until the end of next year.

Making his first-class debut in 2009, the 38-year-old has featured in 145 First-Class matches, 38 List-A and 71 T20Is. He has scalped a total of 611 wickets, with 510 coming in the red-ball format.

Brooks had joined Somerset ahead of the 2019 season, and has picked up 85 wickets across all three formats.

In his latest outing for Somerset, the skillful pacer finished with figures of 3/73 against Yorkshire last month.

The T20 Blast 2022 witnessed him grabbing five wickets in as many appearances at an economy of 8.95.

Brooks delighted with the contract extension

"I’m delighted. I’ve put a lot of physical and emotional energy into my cricket over the last 12 months, and I feel like this summer I’ve been able to showcase what I’m about again after recovering from my injuries. I feel like I’m having an impact on games and am really looking forward to doing it again next year," said Brooks.

“I think we’ve unfinished business as a team. There is a very competitive squad which is one of the reasons I was desperate to stay. We push each other on, and the aim is very much to compete for trophies."
