Indian women' cricket captain Harmanpreet Kaur got emotional following her meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modat his official residence in New Delhi on Saturday, August 13.

The Prime Minister hosted all the Indian Commonwealth Games 2022 contingent this weekend, which also included the women cricket team skipper.

Earlier this month, Kaur led India to a historic silver medal as the Women in Blue defeated hosts England in a thrilling semi-final.

However, the Harmanpreet-led unit squandered a great opportunity to upset Australia and win the coveted Gold medal despite a brilliant knock from the captain herself.

Following the women's team's historic feat, PM Modi congratulated each and every member of the contingent with a heartfelt tweet.

Here's what the Prime Minister wrote:

“Cricket and India are inseparable. Our women's cricket team played excellent cricket through the CWG and they bring home the prestigious silver medal. Being the first ever CWG medal in cricket, this one will always be special. Best wishes to all team members for a bright future,”

''It feels like the entire country is supporting us''- Harmanpreet Kaur

After interacting with the honorable PM, Harmanpreet said that the former's motivational words mean a lot to the entire team.

She said:

"It's quite important to receive motivation from the country's PM. When PM Modi speaks with us, it feels like the entire country is supporting us and that everybody is appreciating our hard work. It's a big achievement for our cricket team,” as quoted by ANI.

Coming back to the CWG 2022 final against Australia, Kaur played a sensational knock of 65 (off 43 deliveries) but, apart from Jemimah Rodrigues, she got little support from the other end.

India went on to lose their last 8 wickets for 34 runs to hand Australia a 9-run win and a gold medal.
