In a latest development, the Chennai Super Kings-owned Johannesburg franchise in the fledgling CSA T20 League is looking to rope in the legendary duo of Stephen Fleming and MS Dhoni ahead of the inaugural season.
MS Dhoni in Chennai Super Kings' outfit
According to a report published in InsideSport, the franchise, which is set to be named Johannesburg Super Kings, wants to rope in Fleming as head coach and Dhoni as mentor.
While acquiring the services of Fleming ain't an issue, the same can't be said about Dhoni. As per the BCCI protocols, none of the active Indian players can participate in foreign T20 Leagues in any capacity.
While MSD has retired from international cricket, he is still an active player in the IPL. So, for the franchise to acquire his services, they will have to cajole the Indian board into giving them the green signal.
Meanwhile, the CSK-owned Johannesburg franchise is also set to reveal its brand name in the coming days.
Reports are rife that just like their rivals, Mumbai Indians, they will also add their parent name- Super Kings- to the new franchise.
