'It Is India Who Will Be Under Pressure': Hasan Ali Ahead Of IND Clash

Pakistan fast-bowler Hasan Ali believes pressure is entirely on India to retain their dominance in the historic rivalry as the two nations enter the high-octane ICC World Cup 2023 league stage encounter in Ahmedabad on Saturday (October 14).

With Pakistan yet to register a victory against their vaunted neighbours in the history of men's 50-over World Cup, Hasan reckons the weight of expectations is more on the shoulders of Rohit Sharma and his men to make it 8-0.

The skiddy pacer stretched his point to suggest that even though Babar Azam's men will face the heat from passionate Pakistan followers, the pressure is nothing compared to what India would be carrying into the marquee fixture, especially in front of a 1.2 lakh capacity crowd in Ahmedabad.

The Pakistani third seamer reckons excessive pressure can easily cause nerves within the Indian dressing room, which could open doors for Babar's team make a confident start to the proceedings and carry the momentum deep into the riveting contest.

Hasan Ali's Bold Views On IND VS PAK

Hasan's remarks came in a video posted by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) amidst great excitement and fanfare across the border for a potentially thrilling India-Pakistan league stage encounter in Ahmedabad.

The pacer echoed the words of his skipper Babar, who had deemed it a "golden opportunity" for Pakistan to rewrite the history books. Babar also backed his troops to produce a strong performance and upstage India for once at the quadrennial event.

"It is India who will be under pressure as it is their home ground with fans turning up to support them. There is always pressure in a big game like this, but we will try to gain momentum early in the proceedings and win the contest," Hasan said.

India and Pakistan first locked horns in a men's World Cup at the 1992 edition of the World Cup. Over the past 31 years, Men in Blue have clinched victory in all seven previous clashes that the two teams have been part of, which is a remarkable feat but also brings with it great pressure of expectations for the side.
