India made an unlikely comeback on Day 2 in the first two sessions of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 against Australia at The Oval. Resuming the day on 327 for 3, Indian pacers made good use of the relatively new-ball, and halted Australia's surge, claiming as many as four wickets in the first session and then getting the Aussies all-out for 469.

For India, all hopes were pinned on the Dukes' new ball, as their bowlers displayed discipline and patience, which was missing on Day 1.

Former England captain Nasser Hussain speaking with Sky Sports, explained the difference between Dukes and Kookaburra during the post-session analysis. Hussain went on to cite Mohammed Shami's example while elaborating on the best use of the Dukes' ball in England.

Here's what Hussain said

"It is about using the Duke's ball better. Who will use it better? The one who bowls a fuller length. Full for example, the length that Shami bowled to Green which the latter edged to the second slip. Duke ball also helps the batters to score at a good rate. It doesn't lose its energy compared to that of Kookaburra as the overs get bowled and flows nicely in the outfield."

Ahead of the WTC Final 2023, all-rounder Axar Patel revealed that several Indian players practised with the Dukes ball during the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023.

As of writing, India have gotten the early blows to their innings before Tea on Day 2, as Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill have been perished. After 10 overs, the scoreboard is reading 37/2, with Virat Kohli (4*) and Cheteshwar Pujara (3*) in the middle.
