On Saturday, November 23, the 17th edition of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy commenced with 38 teams locking horns to clinch the prestigious T20 tournament organised annually by the BCCI.

It is a crucial day for all players as the first round of SMAT will act as a trial ground for the IPL 2025 mega auction set to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah. Several Indian stars, who are in the auction list and featuring in the Ali Trophy, would look to shine to raise the expected price range that they might be sold for.

Ishan Kishan Suffers Neck Spasm

However, Ishan Kishan, who is out of the scheme of things for India, missed that opportunity as he wasn't available for Jharkhand's opening match against Jammu and Kashmir because of injury.

Meanwhile, Ishan has suffered neck spasms, which is why he was forced to sit out against Jammu & Kashmir. The keeper-batter missed the last season because of personal reasons, and since then, he has been under scrutiny.

Ishan Misses Out To Impress Franchises Ahead Of IPL 2025 Mega-Auction

It is worth noting that Ishan, bought by Mumbai Indians for 15.25 crores in IPL 2022, was released ahead of the auction and will go under the hammer on Sunday.

Firstly, Ishan was dropped out of the central contract earlier this year. Meanwhile, his Indian teammate, Shreyas Iyer, faced the heat from BCCI for not prioritising domestic cricket.

He returned to captain Mumbai in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy and also smashed a 47-ball hundred and amassed 130, which is the sixth-highest individual score in SMAT history.
