Punjab Kings are all set to take on Mumbai Indians in the all-important Qualifier 2 of IPL 2025. The winner of this game will go straight into the final while the loser will be eliminated. Thus, it is a high-pressure game between the two quality sides, and it promises to be a thrilling penultimate encounter of IPL 2025.

Punjab Kings Will Qualify For Final If Qualifier 1 Gets Abandoned

The big question is, whether there is a reserve day for the knockout game incase rain or any other unexpected event did not allow the game to happen on June 1. The answer to it is that there is no reserve day for the Qualifier 2 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians. The rule says that the team that finished higher on the points table in the league stage will qualify for the final if the game gets cancelled on June 1.

Thus, Punjab Kings, who topped the group stage of IPL 2025 will qualify for the final and face Royal Challengers Bengaluru again, after losing to them in the Qualifier 1. Punjab Kings had 19 points at the end of the league stage while MI qualified with 16 points at the fourth position.

The match though is likely to fetch a result based on the cricketing skills and the chances of rain are just 6 percent during the course of the game. Incase it rains, atleast five overs should be completed in both the innings to avoid abandonment of the game.

The final of the season, though, has a dedicated reserve day. The final is on June 3 at the same venue, Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Till now, only one final has gone to the reserve day, it was the 2023 one between CSK and GT where Dhoni's men won their fifth trophy in a last-ball thriller.
