Former Australian spinner, Brad Hogg reckons that the financial incentive in IPL has only added to the lure meaning young players are busy polishing their skills for T20 cricket.

While IPL has provided the exposure to young cricketers to showcase their skills, the fear is that players are focusing too much on T20 cricket and Test cricket will fall behind in the upcoming years.

Hogg believes that players are deprived of chance to develop their skills needed to bat for a longer period.

"I think it is (IPL affecting Indian cricket) because the young players that are coming through the system are more focused on playing T20 cricket because there is probably a bit more cash in it. It's a short format game, it's quick and you get it done and dusted," Hogg said.

He added: "When they are focused on T20 cricket, they are not focused on longer forms. They don't know how bowlers set up to take wickets and how batters build their innings for a longer period. The younger players who are just debuting for India are getting affected by it."

Meanwhile, with the IPL auction just around the corner, 405 cricketers from across the globe are set to go under the hammer.
