In a match-defining moment, RCB captain Faf du Plessis was given run out at the non-striker’s end just after he reached his half-century. However, the controversial decision left the fans stunned on the internet.

After a brief rain delay, the RCB-CSK virtual knockout game resumed without any loss of overs, and openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis shifted gears.

While Kohli was sent packing by Mitchell Santner just 3 runs short of his fifty ,skipper Faf maintained the scoring rate from the other end.

Right after du Plessis surpassed the fifty-run mark, a controversial run-out brought life into the CSK unit.

Rajat Patidar drilled Santner’s tossed up delivery straight back to him and the bowler got the tip of his fingers on the ball which crashed into the stumps.

While Faf du Plessis seemed to have made his ground into the crease, the third umpire surprisingly ruled the decision against RCB and pronounced Faf out, citing the gap between the bat and the ground.

Faf pleaded his case, saying his bat had touched the ground. But a decision was made, and the RCB captain had to march back to the dressing room.

RCB Fans unleash fury at IPL officials

However, RCB fans, who were rooting for du Plessis to get RCB to a competitive score in an important virtual knockout game, were stunned and expressed dissent over umpiring standards on X platform (formerly known as Twitter).

While some called the entire league corrupt, a few deemed the dismissal unfortunate.

Even Faf du Plessis himself was shocked and went back fuming. An animated Virat Kohli also protested from the dugout. But all in vain as RCB were two down with 7 overs of play still left in the first innings.
