Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) star batter Virat Kohli continued his sublime form against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the 68th match of IPL 2024 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on May 18.

CSK won the toss and invited RCB to bat first. Openers Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis unleashed an early onslaught against the CSK bowlers, setting a solid foundation. 

However, rain soon interrupted the game. Upon resumption, Kohli, who was closing in on his sixth fifty of the season, fell short at 47 runs after being dismissed by Mitchell Santner. 

In the stands, Kohli's wife Anushka Sharma, who had come to cheer for him, was left holding her breath as she watched Daryl Mitchell take a juggling catch, initially thinking Kohli might have survived.

The incident occurred in the 10th over. Kohli had just hit Santner for a six and engaged in a heated exchange. On the very next delivery, Santner got his revenge. It was a full-length ball, pitched outside off at a speed of 89.9 kmph. Kohli, playing on the front foot, lifted his back leg and whipped it across the line. 

The ball, closing the bat face early, traveled straight into the hands of Daryl Mitchell at long-on. Mitchell, realizing he was nearing the boundary fence, juggled the ball in the air before stepping back inside to complete the catch.

At the time of writing, RCB stood at 113 for 1 in 13 overs, with Rajat Patidar and Faf du Plessis at the crease.
