On Monday, the defending IPL champions, Royal Challengers Bengaluru, outlined the framework of ‘RCB Cares’ to provide assistance to its fans, particularly after the tragic Bengaluru stampede that occurred a day after the team won the IPL 2025 title. The team announced financial compensation, and ongoing support to the families of people who lost their lives.
However, RCB is not the only IPL team that has started an initiative for its fans and has a charitable foundation. Here are some of the IPL teams that have started or are involved in care funds and charitable work.
1) Mumbai Indians
Since 2010, the five-time IPL champions, Mumbai Indians, have been supporting Education And Sports for All. Through the foundation, the franchise has affected 18 million children (in a positive way), as the initiative provides quality education and sporting opportunities to underprivileged children across India.
2) Chennai Super Kings
The Super Kings have a history of contributing to various noble causes, and in recent times, the team has donated to the families of martyrs, and the Yellow Army has also contributed to charitable trusts like Ekam foundation and has helped raise money for underprivileged children.
They also donated money from their first home IPL game of the 2019 season to the martyrs of the Pulwama attack.
3) Rajasthan Royals
The Rajasthan Royals have their own foundation - Royal Rajasthan Foundation (RRF), which works towards empowering Women through various programs. The Royals also work towards building grassroots cricket, and in the development of education and healthcare.
4) Delhi Capitals
The Delhi Capitals franchise worked with various organisations and donated to NGOs during the Covid-19 pandemic. The franchise started a program called Supporting Marginalised Individuals through Livelihood and Empowerment (SMILE), and it helped the families who lost their livelihood during the Covid Pandemic.
