As reported earlier, Rajasthan Royals have decided to release Jason Holder and Obed McCoy among others ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) auctions, set to take place in Dubai on December 19 in Dubai. In light of Holder's staggering price (INR 5.75 crore) at the previous auction, it comes as no surprise.
In contrast, McCoy's release, who did a decent job as a back-up option for a relatively lower salary of INR 75 lakh, raised many eyebrows.
Joe Root, who yesterday announced his withdrawal from the upcoming edition, has obviously been released. The franchise has also let go of Abdul Basith, Akash Vashisht, Kuldip Yadav, M Ashwin, KC Cariappa, and KM Asif.
RR made a move earlier by bringing in Avesh Khan from Lucknow Super Giants at the expense of Devdutt Padikkal. Hence, speculations were coming about whether they would keep both Kuldeep Sen and Navdeep Saini or not, considering Prasidh Krishna and Trent Boult are also here. The Pink Brigade kept them all, along with their core group that included Sanju Samson, Jos Buttler, R Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Riyan Parag, to stun everyone.
