The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will likely coincide with the Pakistan Super League (PSL) next year.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently identified an April-May window for its franchise-based T20 tournament in the wake of the 2025 Champions Trophy in the country.

The PSL 2024 season was played out between February 17 and March 18 this year, leaving just a week between it and the highly popular IPL 2024 season.

IPL, PSL likely to clash in 2025

The PCB has set April 7 and May 20 as a tentative window for the PSL 2025 season next year. The 2024 edition was played out early this year between February 17 and March 18.

The PCB officials confirmed that they decided to move the PSL 2025 dates by a couple of months to find a window for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

The Pakistan board was granted hosting rights for the multi-nation tournament during the 2023 World Cup in India back in November.

Interestingly, the newly-assigned dates for PSL 2025 mean that the Pakistan-based T20 event will clash with BCCI's traditional annual IPL window.

The IPL 2024 season was launched roughly a week after the conclusion of PSL 2024. The second half of March usually serves as the standard launch for IPL seasons, and they conclude sometime towards the end of May.

During a meeting held on May 4, the PCB also confirmed Karachi, Lahore, Multan and Rawalpindi as four venues for the 2025 Champions Trophy.

Earlier this week, the PCB proposed Lahore as a venue for the tournament's high-octane India vs Pakistan clash, even though BCCI has repeatedly expressed their reluctance in sending the Indian team to Pakistan over geo-political tensions between the two countries.
