The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 is coming to an exciting end. With just two matches left, fans are eagerly waiting to see which team will lift the trophy this year. So far, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have secured their spot in the final after a dominant win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Qualifier 1.

Meanwhile, the second finalist is yet to be decided, as MI and PBKS will face each other in the next qualifier. The winner of that match will go on to play RCB in the much-anticipated final.

While team performances are always in the spotlight, there are also individual achievements that fans look forward to every season.

Two of the most prestigious individual awards in the IPL are the Orange Cap and the Purple Cap. These awards go to the top performers with the bat and the ball, respectively, and carry not just recognition but also prize money.

What Are the Orange Cap and Purple Cap?

The Orange Cap is awarded to the batter who scores the most runs during the tournament. This season, Sai Sudharsan from Gujarat Titans is currently leading the Orange Cap race with a remarkable total of 759 runs. Not far behind him is MI star Suryakumar Yadav, who has made a strong return and currently sits in second place with 673 runs.

With a few games left, there's still a possibility for the standings to change, especially if Suryakumar has a big performance in the upcoming match.

Orange Cap Prize Money

The winner of the Orange Cap at the end of the season will receive a cash prize of ₹10 lakh along with the iconic cap.

On the bowling front, Purple Cap is awarded to the player with the most wickets in the tournament. Gujarat Titans’ fast bowler Prasidh Krishna is currently on top of the list with 25 wickets, thanks to his recent two-wicket haul against MI. Just behind him is Noor Ahmad from Chennai Super Kings with 24 wickets, and RCB’s Josh Hazlewood is in third place with 21 wickets.

Like the Orange Cap race, the Purple Cap competition is also intense and could change depending on how the remaining matches unfold.
