In a significant development, experienced all-rounder Jamie Overton has been ruled out of the ongoing white-ball series against West Indies due to injury. The development was confirmed by the ECB through a post on its official handle on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter).
Jamie Overton To Miss WI ODIs And T20Is Due To Injury
As revealed by the ECB, Jamie Overton has sustained an injury to his right little finger, and, as a result, he won't feature in the remaining fixtures of the white-ball leg.
Led by Harry Brook, England are set to face the Caribbean Men in two ODIs and three T20Is after emerging victorious in the inaugural game by a whopping 238-run margin.
Notably, Overton, who injured his finger during the first ODI in Edgbaston, will undergo rehabilitation under the supervision of the English medical team.
However, the ECB clarified that no replacement would be added to the existing England squad. Overton recently represented five-time champions Chennai Super Kings in the IPL 2025 with modest success.
Overton's Clinical Performance In 1st ODI vs WI
Jamie Overton had a dream outing with the ball, playing a pivotal role in England's emphatic victory in the inaugural ODI against West Indies.
Despite getting dismissed for a single run, the seam-bowling allrounder oozed his class with the ball, getting the prized scalps of Roston Chase, Matthew Forde and Gudakesh Motie.
However, with Overton getting sidelined with an injury, it will be interesting to see what combination the hosts prefer for the penultimate ODI clash.
