Lucknow SuperGiants skipper, KL Rahul has been fined INR 12 Lakhs for maintaining slow over-rate during the fixture against the Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Man Singh Stadium in Jaipur on Wednesday night.

Rahul pleaded guilty to the offence, and since this is the first time that Lucknow were found guilty of maintaining a slow over-rate, Rahul was awarded the minimum level of offence, said the IPL via an official statement.

Here's what the IPL said via a press-release:

"As it was the team's first offence of the season under the IPL's Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Rahul was fined Rs 12 lakh."

It will hardly bother Rahul though as his team was able to get the job done- claim 2 points- against a powerful Rajasthan batting line-up by successfully defending 154 on what was a two paced surface in Jaipur.

For the better part of Rajasthan's run-chase, it didn't look like LSG had a chance, but poor batting from Jos Buttler at the top, a costly run-out of skipper Sanju Samson, and woeful death over batting from Devdutt Padikkal and Riyan Parag meant that RR went from 93/1 in the 13th over to 144/6 in 20 overs.

Avesh Khan and Marcus Stoinis proved to be the most successful bowlers for the SuperGiants as they held their own in the death overs, eventually picking 5 wickets between them.

Courtesy of a 10-run win over Rajasthan, the KL Rahul-led unit strengthen their position in the points table.

They will next face defending champions Gujarat Titans at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow on April 22.
