Oval Invincibles captain Suzie Bates was on cloud nine after defeating Southern Brave and successfully defending their Hundred Women's title on Saturday (3 September).

Brave chose to bat first and was able to post a total of only 101, with the contributions of Sophia Dunkley (26) and Tahlia McGrath (20). For Invincibles, Shabnim Ismail and Alice Capsey scalped two wickets each.

In response, Marizanne Kapp (37*) and Capsey (25) led the way for Invincibles to win the game by five wickets. In this pursuit, they continued their dominance in the competition's history.

In a post-match presentation, Bates lauded the team's terrific run despite having only four foreigners at their disposal.

"Bit overwhelmed right now on what we have achieved, we only had four overseas players and a few injuries, Marizanne at under pressure there with the bat was just brilliant," said Bates.

Suzie Bates praise bowlers' effort

It was a clinical effort from the Invincibles bowling unit to restrict Brave to a below-par score, despite the presence of Smriti Mandhana and Danielle Wyatt.

In this regard, Bates thinks the bowlers did a commendable job throuughout the tournament to help the team in sailing the team through crunch moments.

"Our bowling did well this time, which was key for us, everyone who took the ball has done well and that gave us the momentum by fighting back from tough stages."
