India’s bowling is not as glamorous as Pakistan’s but it produces results: Rahul Dravid

The marquee clash between India and Pakistan will return for a second time this Asia Cup, on Sunday in Dubai. Pakistan narrowly lost to India in their first meeting a week ago, and now stand a great chance to seek revenge.

Both India as well as Pakistan’s bowlers did a wonderful job in the earlier fixture last week. India bowled out Pakistan for 147 in 19.5 overs, while the Pakistan bowlers gave a tough fight to the Indian batsmen and took the game down to the wire. In the end, India won with three balls to spare.

In the press conference ahead of Sunday’s clash, India’s head coach Rahul Dravid was asked if the management was worried after the Pakistan pacers put up a better show than the Indian pacers in the earlier game. Dravid pointed out how bowlers from both teams performed well, and neither fared better than the other.

"Ok, their bowlers bowled well and of course they are a good bowling side but we also did well to restrict them to 147. Yes, I agree that the numbers might say someone has bowled at 145 and someone has bowled at 147 but end of the day, bowling analysis is the most important thing. Whether you are bowling at 145, 135 or 125, getting swing or not getting swing, you are judged by the results you produce. Bowling analysis of our fast bowlers was also pretty good. Not to disrespect their bowling but I am confident we have a good bowling attack as well that produces results.

“Look, it [India attack] might not be as glamorous but it produces results,” Dravid added.

The return fixture between the two sides will also be played at the Dubai International Stadium, which hosted the earlier fixture as well.
