Virat Kohli’s batting form has been a subject of conversation for the past few months. The cricketer listed the last of his 70 international tons back in November 2019.

Notably, the batting maverick continues to display glimpses of his prime self from time to time. Even during the ongoing Asia Cup 2022 event in the UAE, the former Indian captain punched a crucial 35 against arch-rivals Pakistan and an unbeaten 59 in his side’s subsequent face-off against Hong Kong.

Kohli earns praise from Haris Rauf following heart-warming gesture

Pakistan pacer Haris Rauf was at the wrong end of India’s thrilling final-over win in their Asia Cup 2022 opener. Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja and Kohli himself took the speedster to cleaners as he finished the high-octane clash with four expensive and wicketless overs.

After the match, Kohli was seen having a chat with Rauf. Moreover, the Indian batting talisman even gifted a signed jersey to the pacer.

During a press conference at the ICC Academy on Saturday, 28-year-old Rauf praised Kohli for his impact in international cricket. The Pakistani pace merchant said:

“The kind of player Virat bhai is, no doubt everybody knows how he has performed for his country in international cricket, he is a legend and you get to learn a lot from him. And like you speak to any senior player; he shows his experience. And you get to learn a lot speaking to a legend like him. And it felt good getting the signed shirt from him.”

Ahead of Pakistan’s Super Four contest against India on Sunday, Rauf also spoke about the confidence his side gained following their emphatic win over Hong Kong.

“We will try to give our best effort when we play them (India) again on Sunday. We have got a good momentum going after the win against Hong Kong. And we will look to carry it into the Super Four.”

The two sides will be at loggerheads once again at Dubai. Their upcoming bout on Sunday, September 4 marks the opening match for both sides in the Super Four stage of the tournament.

The action is scheduled to commence from 7:30 PM IST.
