Indian pace bowler Mohammed Shami was recently captured casting his vote in UP’s Amroha district in the second phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha state elections.

Mohammed Shami, who finished as the highest wicket-taker in the 2023 ICC ODI World Cup, went down with an Achilles heel injury that he supposedly endured during the tournament.

He was accordingly sent to the United Kingdom for surgery which went successful as Shami returned to India for further rehabilitation. Notably, the pacer has been ruled out of the upcoming T20 World Cup since his injury will require at least 4-5 months to properly heal.

That being said, as Mohammed Shami is out off the field, he didn’t forget to fulfil his duty as an Indian citizen and turned up to cast his vote in the second phase of the ongoing Lok Sabha Elections.

Earlier today, voting was held in eight parliamentary constituencies across the state of Uttar Pradesh, including Amroha which happens to be Shami’s constituency.

Hence, he turned up to cast his vote despite reeling from an injury setback. Mohammed Shami further urged every Indian citizen to utilise their right to vote and come out in large numbers to elect the government of their choice.

Notably, Shami isn’t expected to be back on the field until later in the year in September during the home series scheduled against Bangladesh.

His absence will surely hurt the Indian composition for the upcoming T20 World Cup, as the selectors are short on fast bowling options.

While Jasprit Bumrah is expected to lead the bowling attack, the rest of his troops are yet to be decided.
