When SRH’s Abhishek Sharma Found Himself In Trouble Over Girlfriend Tanya Singh’s Suicide

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) opener Abhishek Sharma is enjoying a prolific run for his franchise in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. The dashing right-handed opener has already minted close to 300 runs at the halfway stage of the tournament, at a staggering strike rate of over 218 no less.

Providing blistering starts at the top for the ‘Orange Army’ alongside Australian heavyweight Travis Head, young Abhishek has been widely touted to become one of the stars of India’s cricketing future.

However, not long before the launch of IPL 2024, the Punjab-based batter found himself in major legal trouble after the suicide of 28-year-old model Tanya Singh.

When Abhishek landed in trouble for model’s suicide

In February of this year, model Tanya Singh committed suicide after being found hanging at her Surat residence. A couple of days after the incident, police investigations confirmed that SRH opening batsman Abhishek Sharma was friends with the deceased.

The police also uncovered a series of messages sent by Tanya Singh to Abhishek on WhatsApp, all of which went unanswered. In early March, Surat’s Vesu police station summoned the SRH batter and interrogated him in connection with the tragic suicide

Abhishek Sharma eventually joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) franchise a few weeks later for the IPL 2024 season. The cricketer had made his IPL debut back in 2018 for the Delhi Capitals before he was acquired by the ‘Orange Army’ in 2019.

Back in 2018, Sharma was part of India’s victorious team that won the Under-19 World Cup in New Zealand alongside Shubman Gill and Prithvi Shaw.
