As per the latest reports, India's young wicketkeeper-batter, Yastika Bhatia, will miss out on the upcoming all-important India tour of Australia due to injury. Harmanpreet Kaur led side will challenge the Australian Women in a three-match ODI series starting December 5.
The 24-year-old, Yastika Bhatia, hailing from Vadodara plays for the Melbourne Stars but unfortunately suffered a wrist injury in the ongoing Women's Big Bash League. As a result, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed her that she would be missing out on the highly-awaited tour.
Uma Chetry Replaces Injured Yastika Bhatia
In her absence, 22-year-old wicket-keeper batter Uma Chetry has been named her replacement. In July 2024, Chetry made her India debut and has four T20I appearances to her name so far. The youngster has received a maiden ODI call-up for the tour of Australia, replacing the left-hander, as revealed by BCCI in an official statement.
"The All India Women’s Selection Committee has named Uma Chetry as Bhatia’s replacement in the squad," said the BCCI in a statement.
Earlier, India Women announced squad for the Australia series, and the team dropped Shafali Verma, who is going through a lean patch in batting. Also missing in the squad were Shreyanka Patil, Hemalatha, and Sayali Satghare.

The series, part of the ICC Women’s Championship will be played at the the Allan Border Field in Brisbane on December 5 and December 8 for the first two ODIs. Whereas the third and final ODI is at the WACA Ground in Perth on December 11.
