For the unaware, Bangladesh won the toss and opted to bat first against Sri Lanka in the 2nd Test at Sinhalese Sports Club in Colomb. At toss, the Bangladesh captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto confirmed they will bat first on a good-looking wicket and is aiming for a strong total against Sri Lanka. 

Mehidy Hasan Miraz Returns; Who Has Been Dropped?

At the toss, the Bangladesh captain announced Mehidy Hasan Miraz's inclusion for Jaker Ali, while Hasan Mahmud also missed out due to a niggle. 

Notably, Mehidy Hasan missed the first Test due to illness and his inclusion in the squad ahead of the Test eve gave a selection dilemma for the 2nd Test. However, as it is found, Miraz replaces Jaker Ali who didn't impress in the 1st Test and scored only 10 runs in his two innings.

Miraz's inclusion is crucial for Bangladesh as he strengthens the team in both the batting and bowling departments. In the last series against Zimbabwe, Miraz scored a century and also scalped two wickets which proved him handy and effective for the team in the 2nd Test.

Mehidy Hasan Miraz's Test Record And Stats

Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been a consistent performer for Bangladesh in Test cricket, having featured in 53 matches so far. With the ball, he has claimed 206 wickets at an impressive average of 34.05, including nine five-wicket hauls and two ten-wicket match hauls. 

His best bowling figures in an innings stand at 7/58. Miraz has also made useful contributions with the bat, scoring 1049 runs with a highest score of 103*, including one century and four half-centuries, averaging 24.05. His all-round ability continues to be vital for Bangladesh in red-ball cricket.
