After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Bangladesh had a disastrous start to their first innings, losing Anamul Haque getting castled for a ten-ball duck. Shadman Islam and Mominul Haque added a brief 38-run stand before Sri Lanka bounced back with three crucial wickets in quick time.

Just when the Lankans started to dominate, rain arrived at the Sinhalese Sports Club in Colombo, forcing the match officials to pause the encounter.

As per the latest update on CREX, the conditions have slightly improved, with the groundsmen hoping to make the venue ready for a swift restart to the match.

Rain has historically been a part of action in Sri Lanka, with plenty of matches getting affected or even abandoned due to inclement weather.

The well-poised first Test between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka also witnessed a not-so-ideal finish, as rain played spoilsport on day 5 of the high-voltage affair in Galle. Chasing 296-run target, Sri Lanka were tottering at 72 for four when an incessant downpour prompted the officials to call it a day.
