Scoring a century, regardless of the format, is an art. But listing centuries across all formats demonstrates the remarkable versatility and adaptability of a particular individual. Here at OneCricket, we pick batting powerhouse India and list down each of their batters who have tallied at least century in all three formats.

5. Suresh Raina

Former middle-order batter Suresh Raina was the first Indian cricketer in history in shape centuries in each format of the game. The cricketer made his international debut in mid-2005, and listed his maiden ODI ton roughly three years later during the 2008 Asia Cup in Pakistan. Raina then became the first Indian player to make a century in an ICC T20 World Cup game, doing so against a potent South African attack during the 2010 edition in the West Indies.

A couple of months later, the dynamic southpaw completed his century triplet in Colombo against Sri Lanka, on his Test debut no less. On a high-scoring surface, Raina’s well-crafted 120 helped India take a handy 65-run lead after Sri Lanka had amassed 642-4d upfront.

4. KL Rahul

Making his international debut during a hostile 2014-15 Test tour of Australia, elegant opener KL Rahul smacked a meticulous 110 at the SCG against an attack comprising the likes of Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Nathan Lyon. Cut forward to June 2016 in Harare, Rahul slapped a match-winning 100* against Zimbabwe to become India’s first ODI centurion on debut.

It did not take him long to craft his maiden T20I century either, as he bludgeoned a whirlwind 51-ball 110* against West Indies at Lauderhill just a couple of months into his format debut. Remarkably, KL Rahul is the fastest batter in the world to tally international centuries across all formats, doing so in the space of just the first 20 innings of his Team India career.

3. Shubman Gill

It took Shubman Gill more than three-and-a-half years after making his international debut to register his maiden century, doing so against Zimbabwe in a match-winning cause in August 2022. Over the course of the next five months, Gill had centuries to his name across all formats. The Test ton he crafted in Chittagong in late-2022 set up India’s 188-run series-leading victory against Bangladesh.

Shubman Gill then demonstrated his T20I zeal for Team India by smacking 126* from just 63 deliveries against New Zealand at Ahmedabad in February 2023. Launching 12 boundaries and seven maximums, the innings continues to remain India’s highest T20I individual score to date.

2. Rohit Sharma

Legendary Indian opener Rohit Sharma notched up his maiden international century as a middle-order batter when he took the attack to Zimbabwe with a 114-run knock in Bulawayo in May 2010. Rewarded with his maiden Test cap during Sachin Tendulkar’s farewell series in late-2013, Sharma pounded 177 runs by batting over six hours against West Indies at the Eden Gardens.

The whirlwind opener tonked his first T20I century in October 2015, eight years after his format debut, by bashing 106 runs from 66 deliveries against South Africa. To date, Rohit Sharma has notched up 48 international tons, including 12 in Tests, 31 in ODIs and a world-record haul of five in T20I cricket.

1. Virat Kohli

Serial century maker Virat Kohli made eight ODI hundreds before hauling his first Test ton during the 2011-12 tour of Australia. One of the rare recipients of numerous batting records in international cricket, Kohli has amounted to 80 tons across all formats, which is next best only to Sachin Tendulkar’s staggering tally of 100 centuries.

Notably, the legendary Indian batter has registered 50 of those in ODIs, a world record in itself to set an almost unreal modern-day benchmark for batters all over the world.

Kohli’s tally of 80 centuries includes one T20I special too, from the time when his drought-ending ton against Afghanistan during the 2022 Asia Cup helped India seal a 101-run win.
