After securing an emphatic 295-run win in the first Test in Perth, India are gearing up to take on Australia in the second game of the ongoing five-match series. However, ahead of the much-awaited Day-Night Test in Adelaide, the visitors are slated to play a two-day warm-up match against Australia Prime Minister's XI in order to fine-tune their game against the pink ball.

Meanwhile, the start of the high-voltage clash has been delayed due to inclement weather conditions at Manuka Oval in Canberra. As rain continues to play spoilsport in the encounter, let's see what happened the last time when these two teams locked horns with each other.

What Happened When The Last Time India Faced Australia Prime Minister's XI?

Interestingly, it was an One-Day International match when the last time India took on Australia Prime Minister's XI. The Indians emerged victorious in the nail-biting clash, defeating the home team by one run.

After winning the toss, India's stand-in captain Rahul Dravid opted to bat first in order to capitalise on Canberra's playing conditions. Sanjay Bangar and Parthiv Patel formed a steady opening stand before the former stitched a 60-run partnership with the centurion Hemang Badani.

The southpaw, who was recently hired as Delhi Capitals head coach, slammed 100 runs off 121 balls, ensuring a respectable total of 254/8 for the Indian team. In response, the Prime Minister's XI was restricted to 253 for the loss of six wickets despite valiant knocks from Marcus North and Cade Brown. Ashish Nehra and Amit Bhandari scalped two wickets each, while Murali Kartik was impactful with his left-arm off-spin.
