Test cricket returns to India as the Rohit Sharma-led side will take on a confident Bangladesh team in a two-match Test series, starting September 19. The two matches will be a part of the WTC cycle and India will look to strengthen their position in the points table with a series whitewash.

The Indian stars have all arrived in Chennai, On Friday, as the preparations begin for the upcoming Bangladesh challenge. The likes of Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma have assembled in Chennai and will look to dominate the Bangladesh bowler.

The series is of utmost importance for another Indian star, Yashasvi Jaiswal. The superstar opener has had a breakout 2024 season, and is the third-highest run-getter in Tests this year, with 1033 runs in 14 matches. The explosive opener is just 102 runs away from eclipsing Pathum Nissanka at the top of the run-getters list in Tests (2024).

Jaiswal eyes McCullum's Test record

Jaiswal plays an aggressive brand of cricket, and has already registered 26 sixes in just 6 Test matches. He has a chance to go past England coach, Brendon McCullum's Test-hitting record. McCullum slammed 33 sixes in just 9 matches in 2014, and Jaiswal, with the way he plays can eclipse the record in the first match itself.

Currently, Jaiswal occupies the third spot, with the second position being held by England Test captain, Ben Stokes, who hammered 26 sixes in 15 matches.

Other notable records on the line

India's number 4, Virat Kohli has a chance to surpass Sachin Tendulkar's record. So far, he has slammed 26,942 runs across formats, and needs just 58 more runs to become the fastest to 27,000 international runs.

Also, Rohit Sharma is in the race to go past Jaiswal and Nissanka to become the highest run-getter in 2024. Rohit has 990 runs in 20 matches, and the man in-form could go past Nissanka in the two-game series.
