The World Test Championship (WTC) final is just around the corner, and both India and Australia have finalized their 15-member squads for the upcoming final, set to take place from June 7.
Both the teams have submitted their squads to ICC on Sunday, with Australia cutting down their squad from 17 to 15.
India have made no changes to their 15-member squad. Although they have called-up uncapped Yashasvi Jaiswal, but the elegant southpaw will be in the stand-by. He has replaced Ruturaj Gaikwad, and will fly out to London immediately. The other stand-by players for India include Suryakumar Yadav and Mukesh Kumar.
The only surprise inclusion in India’s 15-member squad is Jaydev Unadkat. The left-arm seamer suffered a shoulder injury during a practice session in IPL 2023, and was ruled out of the tournament.
Team India will travelled to UK in three different batches. The likes of Virat Kohli, and Mohammed Siraj have already landed in England for their WTC preparation.
Meanwhile, Australia have been boosted with the fitness update of Josh Hazlewood. The Aussie pacer missed a large chunk of cricket (both international and IPL) due to a Achilles Heel injury, and remains in the scheme of things for the WTC final.
As per reports, Michael Neser may replace Hazlewood, if he fails to recover from the injury. Australia’s stand-by players include Mitchell Marsh and Matt Renshaw. Todd Murphy, who had a breakthrough debut series against India, has also been included in the final squad.
