In major happenings, Chennai Super Kings' star batter Ambati Rayudu has called his time in the Indian Premier League before the big-bucks finale against Gujarat Titans on Sunday. The CSK batter has finally decided to hang his boots after the IPL 2023 Final.

Rayudu announced through a tweet, thanking the two IPL franchises - Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians - whom he has represented in the lucrative league.

While calling it off, he said: "2 great teams MI nd CSK, 204 matches, 14 seasons, 11 playoffs, 8 finals, 5 trophies. Hopefully 6th tonight. It’s been quite a journey. I have decided that tonight’s final is going to be my last game in the Ipl. I truly hav enjoyed playing this great tournament. Thank u all. No u turn 😂🙏"

The Super Kings franchise acknowledged the 37-year-old batter's announcement and thanked him for his six-year stint with the four-time champions.

"Super thanks for everything, ATR! Your quick blitz and fiery strikes will always command our whistles! Wishing the best for today's outing in #Yellove," CSK tweeted.

The Andhra Pradesh-born joined Chennai before the IPL 2018 to have his personal best IPL campaigns, as he ended the tournament with 602 runs in 16 outings at an average of 43.00 and a captivating strike rate of 149.75. He formed an extraordinary opening partnership with Shane Watson that year, helping the franchise lift its third IPL trophy.

Since then, Rayudu has been with CSK and played a vital cog during their fourth triumph during the 2021 edition.

Before being an integral part of the Yellove Army, Rayudu was with Mumbai for eight seasons, winning three championships in 2013, 2015, and 2017.

Rayudu's stats in IPL

Over a 15-year-long career in the IPL, Rayudu played 203 games to amass 4329 runs in the tournament, the ninth-highest by an Indian batter in the league, scoring 22 half-centuries and a century during his illustrious career.

Rayudu, in the middle of IPL 2022, retired himself from the Indian T20 league via a tweet, but within 30 minutes of posting that post, he unretired himself by deleting it.

He did the same after the heartbreak caused by the World Cup 2019 selection, but he returned to IPL and domestic cricket. However, this time, the 37-year-old veteran has ascribed his intentions by mentioning, "No U-turn."
