The much-awaited India-Pakistan game in World Cup 2023 will now be played on 14th October, instead of 15th October, the original scheduled date. According to the reports from ESPNcricinfo, Pakistan have agreed for the schedule change and will now play Sri Lanka on 10th of October instead of 12th to allow sufficient time before the game against India.

The 15th October date for India-Pakistan game coincided with Navratri celebrations in Ahmedabad. So, there were concerns raised about the adequacy of resources to handle securities for both the events and since then, there were deliberations and speculations regarding change of date or venue of the high-octane encounter.

However, BCCI secretary, Jay Shah denied such reports and informed that many full member countries requested for a schedule change, a week back.

Now, with changes confirmed for Pakistan games, there could be some minor schedule tweaking for other games too. The original schedule has already double-header lined-up for October 14 with Bangladesh going up against New Zealand in Chennai and Afghanistan up against England at Delhi. So, there could be some changes, as according to the reports, there is a plan to provide equal breaks to all teams between the games.

The World Cup is scheduled to start on 5th of October and the final will be played on 19th of November. The last time World Cup was played in Indian subcontinent in 2011, India lifted the trophy under the able leadership of MS Dhoni and are one of the favourites this time around too, along with the likes of England and Australia.
