In a major setback for PCB, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has informed International Cricket Council (ICC) that Indian team will not travel to Pakistan for Champions Trophy 2025. According to a report from ESPNCricinfo, the Indian government has denied permission to their cricket team because of indifferent relations between the two neighbours.

So, with India not ready to travel, ICC and PCB would have to look at other options at their disposal, with the hybrid model likely to be the most practical solution. As of now, the tentative schedule has all the matches in Pakistan and the tournament will be played from February 19 to March 9.

India Matches Of Champions Trophy 2025 Likely To Be Held In UAE

The PCB has been adamant on hosting full tournament in Pakistan and there were even suggestions that India can go back to their territory after playing the match. However, the Indian side denied such possibility and according to ESPNCricinfo, the ICC was informed a week ago by BCCI about not travelling to Pakistan. The report also states that ICC already has alternative plans ready if India do not travel to Pakistan, but there is still no clarity whether BCCI has given confirmation in writing or not.

The PCB chairman has recently emphasised on the need of written statement from India if they don't want to travel to Pakistan. However, it seems that that India in all likelihood will not travel to Pakistan because of political tenions between the two countries and UAE now looks favourite to host India matches. India last travelled to Pakistan for 2008 Asia Cup while Pakistan recently visited India for the 2023 World Cup.

The Champions Trophy will be an eight team-affair and Pakistan are the defending champions having won the last edition in 2017.
