In what comes as a massive development, India have added ace pacer Jasprit Bumrah to their squad for the upcoming three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka.

In its official statement, the BCCI has clarified that Bumrah has passed his fitness test with distinction and will join the ODI squad soon.

Here's what the statement read

"Bumrah was out of cricketing action since September 2022 and was also ruled out of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup due to a back injury. The pacer has undergone rehabilitation and has been declared fit by the National Cricket Academy (NCA). He will be joining India ODI squad soon."

Notably, Bumrah was ruled out of the T20 World Cup after sustaining a stress fracture injury during the Australia home series. The Indian spearhead has missed a lot of cricket and will be raring to get back in action.

His absence proved costly for India in the T20 World Cup Down Under, as they were handed a humiliating 10-wicket defeat by England in the second semifinal. So, considering the ODI World Cup scheduled later this year, Bumrah's fitness is very crucial from India's perspective.
