Rishabh Pant is one of the finest young talents in world cricket and his performances in Test cricket have been quite exceptional. He scores runs at a rapid rate and consistently too, and in the third and final Test of the series against New Zealand, he once again stepped up under pressure and played a valuable knock of 60.

He has received praise from all corners after the knock and Aakash Chopra has also joined the list. The former Indian opener and a renowned commentator now has called Rishabh Pant, the most valuable player in modern-day Test cricket. He called Bazball overrated and added that Pant has been more consistent and has been entertaining fans with his strokeplay. Chopra also stated that Rishabh Pant with his aggressive brand of cricket will define Test cricket of the current generation.

"I believe he is the most valuable player in modern-day Test cricket. Not just in India, but across the world. Let’s forget Bazball, that’s all talk. Look at the consistency with which Rishabh Pant is playing. He is adding so much value to Test cricket with the way he is entertaining the fans. I think he will define this generation in Test cricket."

Akash Chopra On Impact Of Rishabh Pant In Test Cricket

Aakash Chopra said that batting in the middle does not require much thinking and it is all about reacting to the situations. He also praised Pant's belief in his abilities and stated that it helps Pant in his batting.

"I don't think batting involves a lot of thinking.., I am talking about when you are in the middle. It's about executing. You do your thinking and planning before you head out to the middle. When you are in the middle, it's about reacting to situations. You have to see the ball and react. Pant does that very well with a lot of belief."

Chopra also stated that Pant's fireworks with the bat against spinners makes him very similar to Virender Sehwag. He applauded Pant for his fearless attitude against left-arm spinners and added that he has the ability to hit the ball into the crowd regardless of conditions and situation.

"He is like Virender Sehwag. Sehwag used to smash off-spinners. Pant is doing the same to left-arm spinners. If he is facing a left-arm spinner, he hits them out of the park, regardless of the conditions and the size of the ground."

Rishabh Pant has scored runs not only in India in Test cricket, but also on tough overseas tours. So, he would be one of the player to watch out in the much-aniticipated Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia.
