Anybody who has played cricket in Sri Lanka or has seen cricket in the beautiful island country would well be well aware of cricket's beautiful chemistry with rain here. Over the years, many games have been washed out due to rain or at least have been interrupted and the same was seen in the high-octane encounter at Pallekele between India and Pakistan. India batted and scored 266 runs in the first innings but rain spoiled the party and the game eventually was abandoned.

The Asia Cup 2023 is being played in the hybrid format with few matches in Pakistan and rest of the games in Sri Lanka. Apart from one game, all other matches in the Super 4 stage of the competition along with final will be played at the iconic R.Premadasa in Colombo which includes the big Super 4 clash between India and Pakistan on September 10.

However, in a video that has gone viral, a flood situation is being seen in Colombo and if the rain continue to pour down in the same vain, the Super 4 match between India and Pakistan might also get washed out.

The Super 4 stage of the Asia Cup 2023 will start from 6th of September and will finish on 15th of September with final to be played at 17th of September. There are chances of rain in all those days and if the conditions don't improve in Colombo, there might be a shift in the venue, most probably to Dambulla or Pallekele.

It would be interesting to see how things unfold in Colombo over the course of the coming week and let's hope that rain stays away and quality cricket takes the centrestage in Asia Cup 2023.
