Manchester Originals have announced English wicketkeeper batter Phil Salt as their permanent captain ahead of The Hundred 2025. He has replaced Jos Buttler, who has now resigned as England's white-ball captain too.

Manchester Originals Seek Fresh Start After Goenka Arrival
Manchester Originals could win just one out of their eight games in the last season and would be hoping for a fresh start in the upcoming season. Sanjiv Goekna, the owner of LSG, has bought the majority stake of the team, and there are reports that the Manchester Originals could be renamed as Manchester Super Giants.
The new men's captain, Phil Salt has been part of the Originals' squad since the 2021 season. He has scored 935 runs in 35 matches, which includes six fifties and a strike-rate of over 158. Salt has also been in good form in recent times and played a big role in RCB's IPL title win.
Beth Mooney Takes Over Leadership Of Women's Team
Along with the new Men's captain, Manchester will have a new leader for the women's team as well. The Australian superstar, Beth Mooney, has replaced Sophie Ecclestone, who led the team in the last two editions.
The men's Manchester team has made it to the final of the tournament on two occasions so far, while the women's team is yet to cross the group stage. The fifth season of the tournament will kick off on August 5, where champions Oval Invincibles will take on London Spirits. Manchester Originals, on the other hand, will start off their campaign on August 6 against Southern Brave at Old Trafford.
