'If Cummins had won the toss, India...': Sourav Ganguly Shows Disappointment in Rohit Sharma & Co.

Australia ended up taking control of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship (WTC) Final 2023 against India after Travis Head and Steven Smith ran riot at The Oval on Day 1. Rohit Sharma after winning the toss, put Australia into bat, a decision that was proved to be wrong by stumps, with the Pat Cummins-led XI scoring 327 for 3.

Head slammed 145*, while Smith scored 95* in their mammoth 251-run stand for the fourth wicket, that feated on poor and undisciplined Indian bowling sans Ravichandran Ashwin. Former India captain Sourav Ganguly in his post-day analysis, believed that the situation would have been reversed if Cummins won the toss.

Speaking to Star Sports, the former BCCI president went on to laud both Head and Smith, who might have potentially batted India out of contention.

Here's what Dada said

"Absolutely, if you see when Pat Cummins won the toss, he also said that he would have bowled first. If Pat Cummins had won the toss, India might have been in this situation. It has not happened for the first time that a team scored 300 runs after losing two wickets in the first session."

"You have to give credit to Steve Smith and Travis Head. Both have played different types of knocks. Smith has played the way you play in swinging and seaming conditions in England. Head has played his own game, that you keep playing positively in all conditions."

All of India's hope on Day 2 now rely on the new ball, where Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will be expected to knock over Australian wickets in the first hour of play early morning.
