BCCI secretary Jay Shah is all set to take up a new role as he is on the brink of being announced as the next ICC chairman. 

After days of speculation over Shah's future, on Tuesday, August 27, leading sports journalist Abhishek Tripathi took to Twitter to reveal that Shah is all set to succeed Greg Barclay as the next ICC chairman, and the announcement would be made soon by the ICC. 

Notably, August 27 was the last date to file a nomination to join the race to become ICC chairman. With Tripathi's tweet, it is understood that Shah might have filed his nomination to become the next ICC chairman. 

There were reports that it was up to Shah to decide his future as he has the backing of 15 out of 16 ICC members. 

When does Will Jay Shah's Tenure begin?

Even if Shah becomes the next ICC chairman, he will not begin his tenure before November, which is when Barclay's tenure will come to an end.  

Who Will Succeed Jay Shah as BCCI Secretary?

Earlier, there were reports that late politician Arun Jaitley's son and current DDCA president Rohan Jaitley will succeed Shah as BCCI secretary, but in the latest events, Jaitley has shrugged off these rumours and stated that he has no interest in the role.
