ICC fines Corbin Bosch [Source: AFP]
In a significant development, the International Cricket Council (ICC) has penalised South African all-rounder Corbin Bosch for a major Code of Conduct violation. Notably, Bosch has been found guilty of committing an on-field misconduct in the second T20I against Australia at Marrara Cricket Ground in Darwin.
ICC Fines Corbin Bosch For Breaching Code of Conduct
The incident occurred during the 17th over of Australia's innings when the hosts were on the verge of a crushing defeat while chasing a mammoth target of 219 runs. Corbin Bosch bowled a magnificent delivery to castle Australian fast bowler Ben Dwarshuis for a quick-fire 7-ball 12-run cameo.
Soon after getting rid of the left-handed batter, Corbin Bosch pointed towards the Australian dugout, signalling Dwarshuis to silently make his way back to the hut. After Australia lost the game, the match officials determined that Bosch's action was sufficient to provoke Dwarshuis, who kept his cool.
Thus, the all-rounder was found guilty of violating Article 2.5 of the ICC Code of Conduct, which prohibits bowlers from using language, actions or gestures which disparage or could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during an International match.
Therefore, the ICC handed one demerit point to Corbin Bosch, who accepted the sanctions, quashing the need for a formal inquiry.
Talking about the game, South Africa restored parity in the series by swatting aside Australia by 53 runs in the second encounter. Dewald Brevis hammered a blistering hundred, powering the Proteas to 218 runs in 20 overs.
In response, Australia lost wickets at regular intervals, getting bowled out for 165 runs and losing the game by a comprehensive margin. The decider of the three-match series will be played on August 16 at the same venue.
