ICC Launches 'GoBubble' AI Initiative To Curb Online Toxicity For Women's T20 World Cup

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has introduced a new social media moderation tool at the Women's T20 World Cup to combat toxic online behaviour and ensure a safer, more inclusive environment for both players and fans. This AI-powered tool, developed in collaboration with GoBubble, is designed to monitor and filter harmful content such as hate speech and harassment.

ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 edition is set to begin from October 3 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. Bangladesh will be up against Scotland whereas Pakistan will face Sri Lanka on the opening day.

ICC takes big step to protect mental sanctity of Women players

Ahead of the tournament opener, ICC launched a unique initiative to make social media a safer place for players participating in the event. ICC released an AI tool in collaboration with GoBubble that will filter out hate speech and filth from social media platforms.

By using this tool, the ICC aims to protect the mental well-being of athletes and foster a positive digital atmosphere around the tournament.

ICC Head of Digital, Finn Bradshaw, expressed his support for the initiative. He also praised the players and teams for embracing the new tool, with over 60 players already opting in for the service. He said:

"We are dedicated to fostering a positive and inclusive environment for all participants and fans of the ICC Women's T20 World Cup. it’s been great to see so many of the players and teams embrace our new initiative."

Shafali Verma is gearing up for the Women's T20 World Cup 2024 with a strong desire to lead India to victory. After her successful stint as captain of India's Under-19 team, she aims to channel that experience into the senior team. 

With newfound consistency and confidence, Shafali has set her sights on the ultimate goal, i.e., lifting the T20 World Cup trophy for India. She emphasised that while individual achievements are important, team success remains her primary focus.
