ICC Announces 26 Match Officials For Opening Round Of T20 WC 2024 In USA & West Indies

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the lineup of 26 match officials designated for the opening round fixtures of the T20 World Cup 2024, set to commence on June 2nd across nine venues in the USA and the West Indies.

The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup marks the largest ICC event to date, featuring a total of 20 teams competing on the global stage. 

These teams are divided into four groups, where they will engage in spirited competition against one another. 

The ICC has  unveiled the list of officials designated for the group stage matches. Out of 26 match officials, 20 are umpires and 6 are match referees. 

The list comprises most top umpires, including Richard Illingworth, the recipient of last year's David Shepherd Trophy for ICC Umpire of the Year. 

Other notable major umpires are Kumar Dharmasena, Chris Gaffaney, and Paul Reiffel, all of whom officiated in the Final of the Men's T20 World Cup 2022 between England and Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Among the match referees selected for the tournament is Ranjan Madugalle, who officiated the 2022 T20 World Cup Final. In addition to Ranjan, the team includes Jeff Crowe, recognized as the most seasoned referee in the T20 format.
