In the Big Bash League 2024 clash between the Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes at the Simonds Stadium on December 19, the Renegades’ decision to bowl first proved fruitful. Their bowlers made early inroads, with pacer Tom Rogers dismantling the Hurricanes’ top order by dismissing Matthew Wade (5), Mitchell Owen (10), and Ben McDermott (0) in quick succession.

Hopes were pinned on Nikhil Chaudhary, who joined Shai Hope at the crease for the fourth wicket. However, Chaudhary’s stay was brief, managing only 2 runs off 4 balls.

His dismissal came on the fourth ball of the 5th over when Fergus O’Neill bowled a clever delivery. A fuller ball stuck on the pitch, and Chaudhary’s attempted pick-up shot over backward square leg ended in the safe hands of Josh Brown at deep backward square.

Meanwhile, at the time of writing, Melbourne Renegades need 63 runs in 111 balls, with Josh Brown and Tim Seifert at the crease.
