In the latest development, Pakistan’s cricket landscape has witnessed significant movement in the latest ICC Test rankings. Former captain Babar Azam and wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan have experienced sharp declines in their positions.
Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan Drop In Rankings
Former skipper Babar Azam and wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan have both seen significant drops in their rankings. Babar, who was previously ranked 15th, has now fallen to 19th with 677 rating points. His recent performances in the Test series have been underwhelming, which has contributed to his fall.
The star batter, known for his brilliance across formats, has struggled to replicate his usual form, especially after a string of below-par performances that seem to have impacted his Test ranking.
Similarly, Mohammad Rizwan, who has been a mainstay for Pakistan in both Test and limited-overs cricket, experienced a slip in his ranking as well. Rizwan dropped two spots to 21st with 669 rating points. The dynamic wicketkeeper-batter, who was once considered among the top Test batters, has had a lean patch in recent matches, reflected in his lower position in the rankings.
Saud Shakeel And Abdullah Shafique Drop In ICC Rankings
Other Pakistani batters, including Saud Shakeel and Abdullah Shafique, have also faced declines. Shakeel, who has shown glimpses of brilliance in his young Test career, dropped seven places to 27th with 642 rating points. Shafique also slipped to 43rd with 548 points, as he continues to adjust to the challenges of Test cricket.
Noman Ali and Sajid Khan Make Significant Gains
On the bowling front, Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Afridi maintained his position at 14th with 674 rating points, continuing to be a critical component of Pakistan’s attack. Meanwhile, spinners Noman Ali and Sajid Khan have made notable gains. Noman, whose key spells helped Pakistan clinch victory in the second Test against England, moved up to 17th with 677 rating points. Sajid Khan made an impressive jump, climbing 22 places to reach 50th with 387 points.
