How Many Ducks Does Virat Kohli Have During World Cups? Here’s His Tally

This year's ICC ODI World Cup is just around the corner, and Virat Kohli, India's finest batsman of the modern era, will be all set to leave his mark. Due to the fact that the World Cup will be played at home, Kohli will be even more motivated to perform well in order to assist Rohit Sharma in lifting the prestigious trophy after a 12-year wait.

Do you know this fun fact before the mega event begins? With three ODI World Cup appearances already under his belt, Virat Kohli has never been dismissed for a duck, not even once.

In fact, among those who have scored 1000 or more runs in this event, he is the only Indian who has accomplished this feat.

In 2011, Kohli began his senior World Cup campaign with an impressive century against Bangladesh. Although he was unable to maintain the momentum, his 35-run knock was crucial in ending India's 28-year drought for the elusive trophy. He finished the campaign with a tally of 282 runs across nine matches, averaging 35.25.

Kohli improved his numbers in 2015, taking the average to 50.83 after aggregating 305 runs in eight matches. His statistics improved even more in 2019, totaling 443 runs with an average of 55.37.

After 2011, none of his efforts, however, were successful in helping the Men in Blue win the World Cup title.

India’s World Cup preparations had a disastrous start on October 30 after rain in Guwahati did not allow a single delivery in their contest against England. The Men in Blue will next play the Netherlands on October 3 in Thiruvananthapuram before going to the main event.

India’s campaign will get underway on October 8, when they will be up against Australia at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
