If you wish to nail the yorker, who better than the yorker King Jasprit Bumrah to learn the art from? For Indian U-19 seamer Naman Tiwari, it was always an easy choice as to which bowler he needed to follow the footsteps of and watch thousands of videos to develop his yorkers.

The left-arm pacer, who has been one of the shining lights during the Indian U-19 team's magnificent unbeaten run to reach the final of the ICC U-19 World Cup 2024 against Australia on Sunday (February 11), said he was also fortunate to interact with the ace Indian speedster and get some invaluable tips to improve his yorker accuracy.

Speaking to PTI at the sidelines of Indian U-19's training session in Benoni before the summit clash against the Aussies, Tiwari said this interaction took place when Bumrah was at the NCA, recuperating from his back injury early last year.

Indian U-19 Star Reveals Bumrah Influence

"Bumrah is a source of inspiration for us," Tiwari, who has taken 10 wickets in five matches at the junior World Cup, said. "I watch his bowling videos a lot. I have met him several times at the NCA and talked to him a lot about the mentality and skills of a bowler."

"He explained a lot [of things to me], which have been useful. He told me how to bowl accurate yorkers, and I have worked a lot [on that aspect] following his advice. I have to work hard to bring more aggression in my bowling."

"I try to learn something from every bowler I like. I try to understand and learn by watching his [Bumrah's] videos. I like Shoaib Akhtar's speed, Dale Steyn's swing and Mitchell Starc's aggression very much," he added.

Only 30 years of age and with just over seven years of international cricket behind him, Bumrah is already a pillar of encouragement and strength for many youngsters, not just in India but also abroad, as they continue to copy his style and unorthodox action while taking leaf out of his book on how to counter the batters.
