Hardik Pandya’s team, Mumbai Indians (MI), continued their amazing winning streak in IPL 2025. They defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a huge margin of 100 runs on Thursday (April 27) at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
With this win, MI moved to the top of the points table, pushing Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) down. They are now strong contenders for the playoffs and might even finish in the top two. But the real story of the night was Hardik Pandya’s bravery.
What Happened to Hardik Pandya?
Before the match, during a practice session, Hardik got injured while trying to play a sweep shot against a local spinner. The ball hit him near the eye, and he had to get 7 stitches above his eye. Even with this painful injury, Pandya decided to play the match. At the toss, he came out wearing a bandage and glasses, clearly showing signs of the injury.
Despite being hurt, Hardik played an explosive innings, scoring 48 runs from just 23 balls, hitting 1 six and 6 fours. His innings helped MI reach a strong total.
He didn’t stop there, he also bowled one over and took the wicket of Rajasthan’s impact player, Shubham Dubey, who scored just 2 runs.
Strong Support From Suryakumar Yadav
Pandya’s efforts were backed by Suryakumar Yadav, who also scored 48 runs off 23 balls. The two built a solid 97-run partnership in just 44 balls, which made it tough for Rajasthan to fight back.
RR couldn’t handle the pressure and were bowled out for only 117 runs. MI won the match by a massive 100 runs.
This win was MI’s sixth straight victory. It’s a big turnaround, considering they lost 4 out of their first 5 matches. Now, they have 7 wins from 11 games (14 points) and are in a great position for the playoffs, with 3 matches left.
