Harshal Patel bested MS Dhoni with a sensational slower yorker during the death overs of the CSK innings in match number 53 of the IPL 2024 season at Dharamshala. The Punjab Kings speedster also collected the key CSK wickets of Daryl Mitchell and Shardul Thakur to restrict the ‘Yellow Brigade’ to 167-9 upfront.

Interestingly, Patel had a seemingly quieter celebration in comparison to his usual standards even after cleaning up dangerman MS Dhoni.

During the mid-innings break, the 33-year-old explained the reason behind his soft celebration when he was asked about the same by the commentators.

Harshal Patel expresses his admiration for MS Dhoni

Harshal Patel, who quietly celebrated MS Dhoni’s downfall at Dharamshala, revealed that he has “too much respect” for the former Indian captain. The Punjab Kings fast bowler cited his admiration for the CSK legend as the reason behind his soft celebration.

Earlier in the match, Harshal Patel also trapped New Zealand-based CSK’s number three Daryl Mitchell with an astute back of a length delivery.

Moreover, Patel cleaned up Shardul Thakur and MS Dhoni in successive deliveries during the final over of his spell and the penultimate over of the CSK innings.

The speedster eventually finished with impressive figures of 3-24 off his four overs, thus playing a crucial role alongside Rahul Chahar (3-23) in restricting CSK to 167-9.

In response, Punjab Kings had their entire top-order shattered by an insurgent CSK bowling unit in the run-chase. In pursuit of 168 runs for a win in a must-win game, Punjab Kings lost the plot and losing by 27 runs in Dharamsala.
