Harry Brook, England’s promising and highly touted youngster, is currently locking horns with the West Indies as a part of an extended white ball series.

He started off the campaign well by scoring 72 off 71 balls to guide England to a mammoth total of 325. However, the West Indies took the English pacers to the cleaners and chased down the mighty total with seven runs to spare.

Regardless, Harry Brook is in high spirits ahead of the second one-day international of the 3-game series. Prior to the matchup, Brook appeared for an interview, wherein he recalled an embarrassing incident that happened during the IPL that forced him to quit social media.

Harry Brook Regrets Irking Indian Fans!

Harry Brook bagged a 13.25 crore contract from Sunrisers Hyderabad during the last IPL auction. However, the excitement of the franchise was doused as the youngster failed to show consistency. Besides the hundred against Kolkata Knight Riders, Brook’s numbers were largely underwhelming.

However, the century got to Harry Brook’s head as he passed a controversial statement shortly after. Owing to his subpar performance, the batter was subject to online criticism from the Indian fans, who naturally had set high expectations.

Thus, after scoring the ton, Brook hit back, saying,

“There are a lot of Indian fans out there who’ll say well done tonight. But they were slagging me off a few days ago. Glad I could shut them up.”

Needless to say, the Indian fans were hurt, and the trolling only intensified. Now, months later, Harry Brook clarified and expressed regret over the incident.

He called himself an ‘idiot’ for saying such stupid things in the heat of the moment. The batter also added that since he had a lot of free time in India, he came across unwanted things on the internet, which left him pissed.

"I was an idiot and I said that stupid thing in an interview which I regret a little bit. In India, you end up sitting in your hotel room, not much to do so I find myself just scrolling Instagram or Twitter or whatever and come across stuff you just don't want to see,"  Brook told BBC Sport.

But that’s not an excuse, and Brook took complete responsibility for his words. Not only that, the Englishman revealed how he quit social media after the backlash to stay away from negative chatter.
