Chennai Super Kings losing to Royal Challengers Bengaluru last night has resulted in a significant amount of online trolling for former India batter Ambati Rayudu. Reason? Rayudu’s immense laudation for CSK and their veteran wicket-keeper batter Mahendra Singh Dhoni.
Rayudu, however, hasn’t taken the criticism to heart. In fact, he has behaved like a sport to acknowledge a victory for a team he wasn’t supporting. Sharing a screenshot of an Instagram post by RCB 12th Man Army, Rayudu appreciated them for participating in a witty banter.
“Hahahaha good one .. @rcbfans.official This is exactly how banter is supposed to be.. you guys have a great team this year and you can hope for the best,” Rayudu wrote on Instagram.
Ambati Rayudu Had Earlier Mocked RCB
The upshot of the aforementioned post is Rayudu acknowledging that Bengaluru have a “great team” this year. The development comes less than 24 hours after RCB defeated CSK by 50 runs – third-biggest victory for a team against the hosts at Chepauk.
What is more important for Royal Challengers’ fans is the fact that Rayudu admitted this after mocking the Rajat Patidar-led team during a recent interaction with former India and Super Kings batter Subramaniam Badrinath.
“Purely as a fan, and as someone who had really good laughter at them [RCB] over the years because of what they do to themselves, I would want them to win sometime, but not this year, maybe. We want CSK to do well and win it this year. In the end, we need someone like RCB in the IPL [laughs],” Rayudu had said.
For the unversed, Rayudu was among the many to have backed Super Kings to win ahead of Indian Premier League 2025 Match 8 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Friday.
Other than his fixation for his former franchise, Rayudu made sense because the odds were against Royal Challengers. Notably, Bengaluru hadn’t beat Chennai in Chennai since 2008 until yesterday. That being said, his condescending tone irked the fans of the visiting team.
