The ICC Women's World Cup 2025 is electrified as the teams are down to tear each other limb from limb to get to the semi-final spot. The Bangladesh women's cricket team, this year, have been performing moderately with one win out of their two encounters. However, in a major development, they will have a big boost with Bangladesh's star pacer Marufa Akter returning to the squad after an injury during the tournament.

Marufa is all set to play against New Zealand Women in the upcoming clash on October 10 from 3:00 PM IST. The match will hold greater significance for Marufa since she was sidelined from the game against England Women, where she suffered the injury.

Marufa Akter ready to cast her magic again!

After bowling only 5.0 overs against England, Akter had to hop off the field while she was in a golden patch with the ball, already collecting two crucial wickets of openers Tammy Beaumont and Amy Jones a while after England came to chase Bangladesh's target of 179 runs.

It was unfortunate for Marufa to leave the field while she was maintaining an economy rate of 5.60 from her five overs. Nevertheless, Akter recovered from the injury as a BCB official spoke to Cricbuzz recently to confirm her availability for the game.

"She is available tomorrow. Right now she is bowling and not feeling any kind of discomfort that suggests she might miss the game against New Zealand. She was ready to bowl towards the end of the England innings, but the management didn't want to take any risks," the official added.

Akter's discontinuation of Bangladesh's second Women's World Cup game against England surely disrupted Nigar Sultana's plans since England gained back momentum in the chase and wrapped up a comprehensive victory within 46.1 overs.

Nevertheless, with Akter, who played 28 ODI matches and was quite successful in them, Bangladesh will be eager to bag a point against New Zealand Women in the Barsapara Cricket Stadium at Guwahati on Friday.
