On Thursday, November 14, Goa batters Snehal Kauthankar and Kashyap Bakhale have entered the history books as they have stitched the highest-ever partnership in Ranji Trophy history.

In the ongoing Ranji Trophy plate 2024-25 match between Goa and Arunachal Pradesh, the two batters stitched a 606 runs-stand for the fourth wicket. It is also the second-highest stand for any wicket in first-class cricket. They broke the previous record held by SM Gugale and AR Bawne against Delhi in 2016-17.

Snehal And Bakhale Nearly Breaks Sangakkara And Jayawardene's Record

It is worth noting that Snehal and Bakhale missed out on breaking Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene's record for most runs as a pair in cricket history. They required just 18 more runs to break the Sri Lankan batters' stand of 624 runs that they stitched against South Africa in Colombo in 2006.

Here is the list of the highest partnership for any wicket in first-class cricket

  • 624- Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene Sri Lanka South Africa Colombo (SSC) 2006
  • 606 - Kashyap Bakle, Swapnil Kauthankar Goa Arunachal Pradesh Porvorim 2023-24
  • 594 - Swapnil Gugale, Ankit Bawne Maharashtra Delhi Mumbai (Wankhede) 2016-17
  • 580 - Rafatullah Mohmand, Aamer Sajjad WPDA Sui Southern Gas Sheikhupura 1946-47
  • 577- Vijay Hazare, Gul Mohammad Baroda Holkar Baroda (CCG) 1997

Snehal Slams third-fastest triple century in Ranji Trophy history

He scored a 205-ball triple-century, which is the triple-fastest. Further, Bakhale also slammed the ninth-fastest triple century in a first-class match as he took 269 deliveries. Talking about the match, Goa have registered a whopping win.

Arunchal Pradesh, batting first, tumbled for just 84 runs. Meanwhile, Goa put 727 runs and then declared their innings. In the second innings, AP were bowled out for 91 runs, resulting in a 552 runs win.
